Cyberbullying

stop.jpgCyberbullying is on the rise and becoming a huge issue for children of all ages. Where and when the bullying takes place is not the primary concern for schools, it’s the implications of the bullying that concerns us as teachers. We need to be aware of these implications and develop strategies that will assist our children in dealing with this form of abuse. Cyberbullying is similar to other types of bullying, except it takes place online and through text messages sent to mobile phones. Cyberbullies can be classmates, online acquaintances, and even anonymous users, but most often they do know their victims. Schools are encouraged to have protocols in place to manage and respond to these issues. School based awareness programs initiated by the students can have a massive impact on how students view this issue.
